Glebe alumni, students, staff and community,
We were looking forward to hosting the Glebe 100 anniversary celebration from May 13-15, 2022, but in light of the surge of Covid-19 Omicron variant cases, and gathering restrictions and lockdowns, the organizing committee has made the difficult decision to postpone the event until October 14-16, 2022.
We have been carefully monitoring updates/having discussions with Ottawa Public Health, the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board and the Ontario government with the primary objective to safeguard the health, safety and well being of the Glebe alumni and school community.
March is the earliest that 50 people can gather socially indoors and there is simply too much ongoing uncertainty to continue planning an indoor, in-person event for 1000 to 2000 people, with just over three months to go.
For anyone who has purchased tickets already, your tickets ARE VALID for the new date of October 14-16, 2022. We will be in touch with you by email within one week with any special instructions. If you do not hear from us, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
The teachers and current students are very interested in going ahead with a virtual Human Library event in May. If you have volunteered for this event, the organizers will contact you. If you have not volunteered and would like more information, please send us an email.
We are all disappointed but look forward to a successful celebration where we can visit, dance, eat and socialize at your alma mater in October 2022. Incidentally, the first students entered the halls of Glebe in September 1922 so this new date fits within the school’s actual 100th year.
Many thanks to the committee and volunteers for all of their hard work and to the excitement being generated by the alumni.
